I worked a 5 Month contract with Blomidon Softworks in the pre-production phase of their upcoming game 'TaleKeep' as a Junior Artist.
My job was, first and foremost, to redraw every existing environment asset to work in a new camera angle, and then create the rest of the assets necessary for the vertical slice build.
Every asset except the base human mesh in these videos and screenshots was modeled by me, and all were textured by me, based off of my pen and paper designs. The game uses a style inspired by the woodcut illustrations of late-medieval manuscripts, with 4 image textures that can be projected over the models to match the 4 possible camera angles. To achieve certain effects, I used some fun texture overlay and modular mesh workarounds, and I feel the end result is very unique. Some models such as the humans, clothing, and carryable items are true 3D meshes using a proper texture and a shader for the outline. My contract was extended 2 months partway through to take on additional concept art and modelling tasks, wherein i designed and created the 3D character outfits, designed future creatures for the world, and created a world map for planning and pitch purposes.
Though the game takes place in a vaguely Scottish, but ultimately fictional kingdom, in the design process I endeavoured to capture as much of medieval reality as I could. There's a common conception of European Medieval Videogame Fantasy that's easy to fall into if you don't pay attention, and I considered it part of my duty to avoid that. The western european 'dark ages' were far stranger, and I thought that worth expressing. When props and objects were requested that I couldn't find immediate reference for, I spent a lot of time thinking about not only how would such a thing be built by people of the time in this place, out of what materials, but how it would then be depicted by a medieval artist. It is a wonderful team of people making a really interesting game, and I am deeply proud to be a part of it.

Place Visit

A little game where you can walk around and look at stuff! My first 3D game ever, with some rudimentary animations and models. Some textures I drew, most are photos. I like the atmosphere of these places a lot still...

Graphics for an arcade-RPG I'm working on right now. It's weirdly fun for how simple it is, I think I might be on to something.

LAW OF MAN. Uses the NES colour palette, and most of the sprite restrictions! The style was heavily inspired by 80s science-fantasy anime, particularly Akira Toriyama's work on dragonball.
You can see that influence most on the rounded houses and the NPC character designs.

Critical Creature, a game I didn't finish, but every time I see it again I want to. I should finish it some time...
I'm really pleased with the dog animations, though it was kinda painful to do...

Leap The Lake, semi-ugly hero's journey/life simulator, in the vein of Shenmue or Boku No Natsuyasumi.
